London Podcast Festival to Hold Podcast Maker Weekend

London Podcast Festival returns for its second year with a line-up that includes familiar faces and new additions. They have announced a Podcast Maker Weekend as part of the London Podcast Festival.

The Podcast Maker Weekend is a series of workshops and discussions targeted at podcast makers. Sessions will cover everything from Entertainment Podcasts, led by the Picturehouse Podcast and Flixwatcher teams, to Networks and Unheard Talent with Julie Shapiro (producer of Radiotopia) and Imriel Morgan (CEO of ShoutOut Network).

London Podcast Festival will take place on September 13-17, 2017. The Podcast Maker Weekend will run on September 16-17, 2017. Here is a look at some of the Sessions that are part of the Podcast Maker Weekend:

  • Recording 101: Getting Started with Microphones

Aimed at the beginning and intermediate podcasters, this session will cover the basics of recording, and what microphones to use for different podcasting and recording sessions.

  • Strange & Charmed presents: How to Make Your Listener Levitate

Cathy FitzGerald knows how she hooks her listeners: head, heart, guts, and soul. In this session, she offers practical tips on creating an intense tangible world through scripting, structure and surprise.

  • Editing and Post Production

Prix Europa Nominee Andy Goddard (Wooden Overcoats, Inside Donald Trump) will be giving an introductory workshop on the elusive art of editing.

  • Networks and Representation Plus Pitch-a-Thon

A panel of guests from three of the most exciting networks in podcasting in the UK and US (ShoutOut, Maximum Fun, and Radiotopia) talk about building their networks, nurturing new talent, and giving platforms to voices under-represented in mainstream media – followed by the opportunity to pitch your show idea to the panel and receive feedback from three experienced network and show-runners.
