The annual Podcast Awards returned this week with open voting for nominees. Nominations will close at the end of the day on February 2nd. Until then, listeners can nominate their favorite podcasts in the following categories:

• Peoples Choice
• Best Produced
• Best Vido Podcast
• Business
• Comedy
• Cultural/Arts
• Education
• Entertainment
• Food and Drink
• Gaming
• General
• GLBT
• Health/Fitness
• Mature
• Movies/Films
• Podsafe Music
• Politics/News
• Religion Inspiration
• Science
• Sports
• Technology
• Travel

Nominations are then verified by a team of volunteers to ensure shows are in fact podcasts (and not just websites or YouTube channels), that they have working RSS feeds and that they’re appropriate for the genre they’ve been nominated in. The highest-ranking qualified shows will then move on to the final voting process, where listeners will once again be able to cast votes for their favorites.

The Podcast Awards ceremony will take place during this year’s New Media Expo/National Association of Broadcasters Show on April 14th in Las Vegas. 2015 is shaping up to the biggest year yet for the Podcast Awards as this year’s ceremony will be hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Dennis Miller and Emily Morse, creator of the popular Sex With Emily podcast.
