Shawn and Jen got into a lively discussion about podcasting that ended up going off on a tangent. They tried to rein things back in after that.
The tangent was actually related to podcasting, so it could have been worse.

Hey guys, I love your new show format. I can see how this can be a great example for anyone wanting to do a Co-Host show. Now, on to my opinions along with my own stats concerning your show. I think that Josh Morgan did a very sloppy job with his research. I could use his same parameters on any topic I want to make the final outcome sway to any direction I choose. Example: When I Google “How many children were born out of wedlock in 2012” this is the first thing that comes up.
“Here’s the bad news (essentially unchanged from last year): Preliminary data indicate that 40.7 percent of all 2012 births were out-of-wedlock, which is appalling, and there are vast differences among racial and ethnic groups”. Now, I went through 12 sites and NO ONE has the same numbers.
Now if I Google “How many children were born out of wedlock in the USA”, this is what comes up. “CDC: Fewer Children Born Out of Wedlock. About four in 10 American babies were born to unmarried women in 2013, down one percent from the previous year”. There is a big difference when you start leaving the rest of the world out of your stats.
So, when Data confirms that podcasting in the US is a white male thing By Josh Morgan on Quartz and then you read that 8 Podcasts Prove That Women Dominated The Podcast Game in 2015, By Courtney Lindley on Bustle, it would seem to be human nature on who you would want to believe, to support your own agenda.
Now on to Making Story-Driven Podcasts on a Budget By Wooden Overcoats on Medium. I know a Young Lady that does this. Her studio cost $27.00. She can make a Pro look like an amateur when it comes to quality recording of the spoken word!
Now, here are my stats. I can make them up, just like any body else. Swimmers are more likely to drown then people who never go into the water. K-9’s will eat more when fed every day, then those that are fed once a week. (An old Calager Joke. The guy with the veg-o-matic wooden sledgehammer). Podcasters who produce a daily show will have more time invested then those that produce a monthly show. Ect………………….
Keep Up The Great Work! Dana.
