Disctopia Launches Video Podcast Features For All-In-One Creator Experience

Disctopia, a podcast hosting and streaming service for independent creators, announces its brand new video podcast feature. This latest addition to the platform allows users to upload podcast videos and automatically add them to their Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed, thus creating an all-in-one podcast creator experience.

Not only does Disctopia enable creators to host their podcast video on the platform, but it also allows them to sync the audio automatically to their RSS feed. Like with regular audio podcasts, Disctopia then shares the creator’s video podcast to all podcast listening apps and directories.

Creators can elevate their content and treat audiences to video podcasts via the same easy steps as uploading a standard audio podcast on their Disctopia account. The feature is straightforward, and no software installation is needed. The company simplified the process to make video podcasting both easy for newbies and faster for professionals.

Video podcasters on the Disctopia platform will also be able to leverage True Play, Disctopia’s deep reporting and analytics. This will offer video-specific analytics to creators, including listener location, the daily number of listeners, daily downloads, engagement, and much more.

“We want to bring podcasters closer to their audience and offer a higher level of engagement,” says Patrick Hill, the founder of Disctopia. “Through video podcasting, podcast audiences can visualize the hosts and their guests. Most importantly, we are helping our creators deep dive into a new demographic of listeners and viewers.”

Disctopia highlights the importance of video podcasting in helping others creators reach a new audience. This is why it is taking the step to help its creators make the migration easy by providing them with a platform to host and share their podcast videos. Trends suggest that video podcasting is the future of podcasting, and Disctopia empowers podcasters to have a strategy that allows them to stay relevant in the long run.

About the company

Disctopia operates from Charlotte, North Carolina, as a streaming platform dedicated to delivering indie content from creatives to fans globally through the Disctopia App. It’s on a mission to revolutionize the independent creators’ industry by allowing fans to fuel the culture. THE HAPPINESS LAB – New season launching Tuesday, September 6

Our minds lie to us all the time about what will make us happy. In this season of The Happiness Lab, host Dr. Laurie Santos explains what we get wrong about a range of everyday experiences and explores myth-busting questions with surprising solutions, such as: What’s wrong with striving for a #NoRegrets life? Why do we make decisions in the heat of the moment? Why is there a generation catastrophically failing to thrive?

THE LOUDEST GIRL IN THE WORLD – Premiering Tuesday, September 13

For years, journalist and podcaster Lauren Ober wasn’t all that jazzed about herself. She was always getting in trouble, she had weird sensory issues and her anxiety felt off the charts. And then, she found out why – she was autistic. The Loudest Girl in the World tells the story of Lauren’s journey to understand what the hell it means to be on the autism spectrum and how to live life as a newly diagnosed autistic person. This is a co-production of Pushkin and iHeartMedia.

DEATH OF AN ARTIST – Premiering Friday, September 23

Host Helen Molesworth revisits Menditia’s death, taking a closer look at how she might have fallen out of the window of their 34th floor Soho apartment, and the following trial which has divided the art world since 1985. STORY OF THE WEEK – Premiering Thursday, October 6

Each week, journalist Joel Stein chooses an article that fascinated him the most that week and delivers in an efficient, conversational style. This is a co-production of Pushkin and iHeartMedia.

BAD WOMEN: The Blackout Ripper – New season launching Tuesday, October 11

In February 1942, a very different threat than Hitler stalked the women of London’s theater and nightclub district: a sadistic killer whose depravity was immediately likened to Jack the Ripper. Using new research from police files, court transcripts and exhaustive genealogical studies, this new season of Hallie Rubenhold’s Bad Women reconstructs the lives of these murdered women who were ignored as the sex trade and criminality surged in the bomb-ravaged streets of the Blitz.

THE LAST ARCHIVE – New season launching Thursday, October 27

Harvard historian and _New Yorker_ staff writer Jill Lepore has unspooled a history of the United States’ post-truth crisis – of how we know what we know and why it seems lately as if we can’t agree on anything at all. In her third and final season, Lepore tells eight stories about solutions. From experiments with high school juries to profiles of cutting-edge animal scientists, Lepore offers a season of hopefulness, imagination, and the consolation of well-told history.

COME AS YOU ARE – Premiering in October

Each week, sex educator and bestselling author Emily Nagoski answers questions about sex, along the way dispelling the cultural myths we’ve been told. Regional Managing Director, Acast UK & Ireland Named As Josh Woodhouse

Acast, the world’s largest independent podcast company, announced Josh Woodhouse’s appointment as Regional Managing Director of Acast UK & Ireland.

Having been Acting Regional MD since Georgie Holt moved across the business earlier this year to become Regional Managing Director of Acast Americas, Woodhouse – previously UK Director of Sales – now assumes the role full time. Leo Goldingham, previously a UK-based Group Business Director, will now step up to Director of Sales for the UK.

Woodhouse, who has been with Acast for five years, started his career at Bauer Media Group and has also previously worked at Pearl & Dean. Goldingham, who has been with Acast for the same length of time, was previously at Global and Wireless Group and will now lead Acast’s sales team for UK.

Oskar Serrander, Acast’s Chief Operations Officer, said: “The UK is home to some of the biggest podcasters and is one of our best-performing marketplaces globally. Josh has been key to our growth over the past five years, and – after an extensive search for Georgie’s replacement – it became clear to us that the best person to lead Acast forward in the UK was already here.

“Promoting from within is something we strongly believe in, and that’s also why promoting Leo to a leadership role in this priority market also made a lot of sense. Both are well-respected, much-loved members of the UK team – and pillars of the creative, high-achieving and fun culture we’ve worked hard to build.”

Woodhouse said: “It’s safe to say that Acast has been a hugely important part of my life for the past five years, and to formally step into the Managing Director role for the UK and Ireland is a dream come true. It’s a really special place to work, not just for the incredible work we do with our podcasters and advertisers but for the culture we’ve built and sustained, despite our unprecedented growth and the pressures and challenges that can bring to a business.

“I’ve spent the past five years driving Acast’s commercial team in the UK and I can safely say that Leo is the right person to take over in this role as Director of Sales. I can’t wait to see how Leo can take the UK sales team to new heights, delivering market-leading campaigns for our advertisers and helping our creators to make a living from their hard work.”

Goldingham added: “Acast’s mission is to help podcasters make more money – and, as Director of Sales, my priority will be to improve revenue performance so our podcasters can continue to make the great content their listeners love. The UK sales team is exceptional and it’s a great honour to lead them in delivering excellence to advertisers, facilitating a healthy podcast ecosystem that allows our creators to thrive.”

Acast is home to some of the biggest and most iconic podcasts in the UK, including Shagged. Married, Annoyed; The Rest is Politics; My Dad Wrote a Porno; and That Peter Crouch Podcast. Acast also works with publishers such as the Financial Times, the Guardian, The New York Times and The Economists to host and monetize their podcasts in the UK and further afield.

Elsewhere in the UK business, Lorna Byrne and Emma Morrisroe have been promoted to Group Business Directors, after consistent exceptional performance, with team leadership responsibilities overseeing sales, with both media agencies and direct-to-brand clients.
