ESPN Radio will Broadcast Podcasts on Thanksgiving Day

Will you be spending many hours traveling this Thanksgiving? Need something to entertain yourself with while visiting relatives? Do you enjoy sports? If so, then ESPN Radio has something for you!

ESPN will broadcast 30 for 30 podcast episodes on Thanksgiving Day. The broadcasts start at 1 p.m., on Thursday, November 22, 2018, on ESPN Radio. A bunch of ESPN radio stations around the country will participate. Each compelling story from the award-winning and critically acclaimed 30 for 30 unit at ESPN is one hour.

Madden’s Game – He’s a Super Bowl-winning coach and iconic broadcaster who teamed up with an upstart called EA. Here’s how his name became synonymous with an empire. Madden’s Game will start at 1 p.m. ET.

The Lights of Wrigleyville – In 1981, Tribune bought the Cubs and saw potential in night games. But residents of Wrigleyville were ready to fight against it. The Lights of Wrigleyville will start at 2 p.m. ET.

A Queen of Sorts – Poker star Phil Ivey’s elaborate 2012 scheme won him $20 million. They said he cheated. The secretive mastermind behind it all was after revenge. A Queen of Sorts will start at 3 p.m. ET.

A Queen of Sorts was episode 4 in Season One of 30 for 30. The Lights of Wrigleyville was episode 3 in Season Two, and Madden’s Game was episode 4 in Season Two.

30 for 30 is Accepting Submissions for Original Audio Stories

The 30 for 30 Podcasts Story Workshop is co-presented by IFP and Made In NY Media Center by IFP. 30 for 30 Podcasts is ESPN’s premium series of original sports documentaries. 30 for 30 Podcasts is now seeking submissions.

30 for 30 Podcasts is ESPN’s premium series of original sports audio documentaries. A spin-off of the Oscar and Peabody Award-winning 30 for 30 documentary series, the podcast utilizes original interviews, archival sound, and the textured intimacy of the audio medium to explore compelling characters, teams, incidents, and stores across the sports landscape.

30 for 30 Podcasts Story Workshop is powered by IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP. The 30 for 30 Podcasts Story Workshop is accepting submissions for original audio story pitches. They are looking for the next great 30 for 30 Podcast.

Successful submissions (between 12-16 proposals) will be selected to participate in a private pitch session with 30 for 30 Podcasts and ESPN producers and development executives, at the Made In NY Media Center on July 24. You can apply on the NY Media Center website.

Some Considerations and Criteria include:

  • Related in some way to sport, competition, athletes, fitness, or sport-like adventure
  • Historical (usually 5+ years)
  • Focused (single event illuminating a larger impact)
  • Sports as a setting to explore off-the-field themes (cultural, racial, societal, etc)
  • New angle on a story you thought you knew
  • Has a larger impact and ripple effect/aftermath
