Academy of Podcasters Reveals 2018 Hall of Fame Inductees

The Academy of Podcasters is a group of influential contributors to the podcast community who come together every year to vote on the winners of the annual Academy of Podcasters awards. These contributors are also in charge of voting annual inductees into the Hall of Fame. The Academy of Podcasters has revealed their 2018 Hall of Fame Inductees.

Chemda Keith and the Girl
Keith Malley– Keith and the Girl
Best known as hosts of the comedy podcast Keith and the Girl, Keith Malley and Chemda have been putting out daily shows since March 2005. Many of today’s top podcasters credit KATG as being pioneers that got them into the podcasting world!

Dave JacksonSchool of Podcasting
Dave Jackson is an award-winning podcaster who has been podcasting since 2005, and has been the host of nearly a dozen different podcasts over the last decade. Dave is best known as the host of School of Podcastingwhere he has helped thousands of new and experienced podcasters to launch their shows and become better hosts.

Father Roderick VonHögen – The Daily Breakfast
Father Roderick VonHögen is a Roman Catholic priest from the Netherlands who works as a new media broadcaster and television presenter of programming related to Catholicism and pop culture. He is best known for starting the Star Quest Production Network, the leading Catholic podcasting platform, in 2005, and as the host of The Walk and The Daily Breakfast.

Grant BacioccoThe Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd
Grant Baciocco is a content creator and performer who is on the forefront of all things new media. In 2004 he created the popular, family friendly podcast, The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd, which has been releasing episodes ever since.

Dr. Pamela Gay is an astronomer, writer, and podcaster who uses new media to engage people in science and technology. She is best known as the host of Astronomy Cast where each week she takes listeners on facts-based journeys through our Cosmos.

Reggie Ossé Aka Combat Jack – Loud Speakers Podcast Network & The Combat Jack Show
Reggie Ossé (July 8, 1964 – December 20, 2017) was a hip hop music attorney, executive, founding partner of the Loud Speakers Podcast Network, and host of the podcast The Combat Jack Show. He was also the host of Gimlet’s MOGUL.  Ossé will be inducted posthumously this summer in Philadelphia.

Scott Johnson – Frogpants Studios
Scott Johnson is a cartoonist, illustrator, designer and podcaster. In 2008, Johnson launched FrogPants Studios, an illustration and audio production company, and has since put out over a dozen different podcasts, including the award winning Film Sack, and The Morning Stream.

The Academy of Podcasters is a group of influential contributors to the podcast community who come together every year to vote on the winners of their annual Awards. These contributors are also in charge of voting annual inductees into the Hall of Fame.

The Academy of Podcasters Awards recognize and honor the best podcasters in their given niches and categories of podcasting. This event will also include annual inductions into the Academy of Podcasters Hall of Fame for podcasters who have revolutionized the podcasting space.

The 2017 Hall of Fame Inductees are:

Brian Ibbott is best known for his podcast Coverville.  Coverville is a podcast that started in 2004, produced every Wednesday, that focuses on cover songs of a previously written song. Coverville is also one of the longest running podcasts in the iTunes Store, and is in the top rankings for overall episode numbers. The show has won multiple awards over the years, and has been nominated as an AofP Awards finalist for Best Music Podcast.

Dan Klass has been releasing the award-winning The Bitterest Pill since 2004. Dan also co-wrote Podcast Solutions: The Complete Guide to Audio/Video Podcasting. Dan has produced and consulted for companies like Speedo, Grey Advertising, and Big Brothers/Sisters under his company Jacket Media, since 2005. He is a proud member of the Academy of Podcasters, and is a podcast instructor at UCLA university.

Elsie Escobar is a die hard podcast junkie who lives and breathes podcasting, and has worked in the medium for over ten years. She, like many of us, started as someone who barely knew what a digital recorder was, and has since grown into the co-host of the popular She Podcasts and The Feed: The Official Libsyn podcast. Elsie is currently the Community Manager at Libsyn, and is the founder of Podcasting School for Women.

Luria Petrucci (aka Cali Lewis) is a pioneer in the podcasting and live streaming world, known for her shows GeekBeat.TV and GeekBrief.TV, among others. Since 2005, she’s grown an audience of 2 million social followers, and has produced and hosted video & live streams for her own communities, Samsung, Panasonic, AT&T, OnStar, DISH Network, Verizon, FiOS, Bausch + Lomb, BBC Click, and more. Rob Greenlee is the Head of Podcast Content at Spreaker and Adore Podcast Network. Rob was formerly with PodcastOne as EVP/CTO, and for six years was the Business Manager and Content Manager for podcasts at Microsoft Zune, Xbox and Windows Phone. Rob currently hosts the Spreaker Live Show and co-hosts the New Media Show.  He is also the former lead host of WebTalk World Radio Show; recognized as the first nationally syndicated radio program in the world to begin podcasting, on September 15th, 2004.

Academy of Podcasters Awards and HOF 2016The Academy of Podcasters s a group of influential contributors to the podcast space who will come together every year to vote on the winners of the annual Awards. They are also in charge of voting on annual inductees to the Hall of Fame. The 2016 Hall of Fame inductees have been selected.

This is the second time that the Academy of Podcasters has selected Hall of Fame inductees. (The first time was in 2015). The 2016 inductees will be inducted on July 6, 2016, at the Academy of Podcasters Awards and Hall of Fame Ceremony.

Two of the 2015 Hall of Fame inductees are the creators of one of the world’s longest running podcasts, The Dawn and Drew Show. It started in 2004. Dawn Miceli is the first female podcaster. She is also an accomplished musician with an album by Smitten Bayou. Drew Domkus has been working with new media since the mid 1990s. He has produced content for Mevio and Sirius Satellite.

Gary Leland recorded his first podcast “The Sport’s Podcast” in December of 2004. In 2005, he created The Podcast Pickle website, which was one of the first directories and user forums dedicated to the growth of podcasting. “The Sport’s Podcast” has evolved into the FastPitch Radio Network, and is part of the Fastpitch.TV Network.

Mignon Fogarty is best known by her online persona, Grammar Girl. She is the creator and host of the Grammar Girl podcast and the founder of Quick and Dirty Tips, which began as a podcasting network and is now, in partnership with Macmillan Holdings, also a large content website that is home to 16 other podcasts.

Rob Walch is the Vice President of Podcaster Relations for Libsyn Prior to joining Libsyn in 2007, he was the host of podCast411 (which began in 2004.) Rob Walch is also a monthly columnist for Podertainment The Podcast Magazine.
