Airborne, the leading audio agency, has been operating independently since September 1, 2024 following the buyout of its activities by Jeroen de Bakker and Marvin Jakobs from ACE. This strategy move is driven by the ambition to shape the future of digital audio and podcasting as a specialized player in the market. The agency announced the news during the Day of Audio event.
“In order to fully realize our innovative vision for digital audio and podcasting, we have collectively decided to move forward independently. This grants us more freedom from partnerships and enables us to future build on our focus and expertise,” said Jeroen de Bakker, managing partner at Airborne.
Marvin Jacobs, co-founder and creative director of Airborne, added: “Digital audio and podcasting offer a world of opportunities for our clients. By deploying this expertise independently, we can collaborate more effectively with other agencies, IP owners, thought leaders, and media companies. This creates space for innovation and allows us to discover new revenue models beyond commissioned work, especially as AI shapes the future.”
Rogier IJermans, CEO of ACE, affirmed: “I’m pleased to see Airborne, which we founded together with Jeroen and Marvin, continue independently under their leadership. This allows them to stay agile in the rapidly evolving audio landscape. Within ACE’s current direction, Airborne’s specialization no longer aligns, making the decision for independence all the more logical. We proudly offer Jeroen and Marvin the entrepreneurial freedom to pursue their ambitions and wish them much success.”
