The Sarah Awards and PodTales have Combined

The Sarah Awards announced that is has combined with PodTales for 2020. Their original idea was to gather in person at Sarah Lawrence College this fall and “see everyone’s gorgeous faces in person” at the college’s new Barbara Walters Campus Center. The pandemic put an end to those plans.

So we got to work organizing this year’s Sarah Awards ceremony and PodTales online audio fiction festival. It’s an exciting program that will launch in November and have three weekends worth of incredible programming and celebrations. Discover everything PodTales here. The three weekends will all lead up to this year’s The Sarah Awards Ceremony where we will awards to the best audio fiction from around the world.

This year’s Sarah Awards will award a combined $3,750 in prize money for the First ($2,000), Second ($1,000), Third ($500), and Best New Artist ($250). Submission is free and you can enter as many pieces as you would like.

Here are some key points from it:

  • Entries must have been produced between March 2018 and October 2020.
  • Entries must be between 3 minutes and 60 minutes in length.
  • Each entry will be judged individually.
  • Entries of all languages are admissible. However, if your works are not in English, you must provide a transcript in English.
  • All works must be fiction – no documentaries will be accepted.
  • Each entry should consist of one audio file (MP3).
  • All entries must be uploaded by Friday, October 23rd, 2020 at 5 p.m. EST.

The Sarahs are Accepting Entries for 2018 Sarah Awards

The Sarah Lawrence College International Audio Fiction Awards are accepting submissions for the 2018 Sarah Awards (also called “The Sarahs”). Winners will receive $4,000 in cash prizes – $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place, $500 for third place, $250 for Best New Artist and $250 for Sarahs’ Sarah Award.

All entries must be uploaded between now and Thursday, February 15, 2017 at 5 p.m. EST. There is a $35 fee for all entries. If you miss the deadline, your entry will not be judged.

Other things to know:

  • Payment of the entry fee will be made online through Submittable. You will also use Submittable to upload your entry.
  • Each entry should consist of one audio file (MP3).
  • Entries must have been produced between February 2017 and February 2018.
  • Entries must be between 3 minutes and 60 minutes in length.
  • Entries of all languages are admissible. However, if your work is not in English you must provide a transcript in English.
  • All works must be fiction – no documentaries will be accepted. However, mocumentaries will be happily accepted.

The Sarahs are Seeking Submissions

The Sarah Lawrence College International Audio Fiction Awards is now seeking submissions for the 2018 Sarah Awards. There is a total of $4,000 in cash prizes to be won. The winners will be celebrated at an award ceremony on April 23, 2018, at New York City’s Players’ Club.

The first place winner will receive $2,000. The second place winner will receive $1,000. The third place winner will receive $500. The winner of Best New Artist will receive $250, and the winner of Sarahs’ Sarah Award will also win $250.

Some Eligibility Requirements include:

  • Entries must have been produced between February 2017 and February 2018
  • Entries must be between 3 minutes and 60 minutes in length
  • Serialized works are allowed to enter, but the entry for each series can be no more than 60 minutes.
  • Entries of all languages are admissible. However, if your works are not in English, you must provide a transcript in English.
  • All works must be fiction. No documentaries will be accepted.

Each entry should consist of one audio file (MP3). You must submit your entry through Submittable. Visit the Sarah Awards website for more details about how to do that. All entries must also include a brief producer bio (80 words max), a synopsis of the entry, and an entry fee.

Entry fees:

  • $25 dollars for entries uploaded by December 1, 2017.
  • $40 for entries uploaded between December 2, 2017, and January 31, 2018.
  • No fee for student entries.
