Dave Jackson Intro

Hello,

School of PodcastingI’m so pumped to be part of Podcaster News. One of my very first shows was hosted here (I’ve done over 21 shows with over 2000 episodes under my belt). I run the School of Podcasting which is the Internet’s first website dedicated to helping people launch successful podcasts. My podcast about podcasting (the School of Podcasting’s Morning Announcements) was the first “how to podcast” podcast. I’ve been podcasting since 2005. I’ve been called the “Consumer Reports of Podcasting.” I help people avoid the common pitfalls of podcasting (like spending too much on equipment, using bad media hosting, and trying to podcast for free).  You can read what other people say about me on my testimonials page.

My background is in teaching technology. I’ve been doing it a long time (at one time I created a class “Surfing the Internet” as people had no idea what it was). I love taking people who are afraid of the unknown, or confused by technology, and helping them overcome their fears, and anxieties. To see them launch a podcast when they told me weeks ago that “There is no way I’m technical enough to create a podcast,” almost brings tears to my eyes.

I have spoken at numerous events such as New Media Expo, Author Conventions, Podcamps, Meetup Groups, and webinars. I love to talk podcasting with anyone, anywhere, any time. Here are my current shows:

The School of Podcasting’s Morning Announcements (all things podcasting)

Ask the Podcast Coach (live call in show Saturday’s at 10:30 am est)

Podast Review Show (Constructive criticism and powerful praise)

More Podcast Money (my book on podcast monetization)

Weekly Web Tools (wordpress and other tools)

Logical Weight Loss (a no nonsense approach to weight loss)

Marketing Musician (get more fans, gigs, and sales)

Feeding My Faith (God made simple)

I am in constant pursuit of constant improvement in podcast journey. I love to hear about other’s success, and talk the tools of the trade, and the strategies of the successful.

Jeff Brown Intro

Hi, I’m Jeff Brown. Before launching my first podcast last year (I do expect there to be others eventually) I made my living as a radio broadcaster. I am an award-winning on-air personality, production director, and copywriter.

In July 2013, I launched the Read to Lead Podcast, a top 10 Business and top 3 Career podcast in iTunes.

In December, I founded Podcaster Academy, a month-long online course taught in 4 modules that also includes one-on-one talent coaching. I leverage my radio experience to teach new and up-and-coming podcasters like you to more intimately connect with your audience. I do this by teaching you:

– Valuable strategies for delivering your content in a more conversational and natural way

– Necessary skills for conducting a great interview

– Techniques and tricks I use to bring your listener into the conversation instead of relegating them to fly-on-the-wall status

I am passionate about helping podcasters be all they can be. As a medium, podcasting is already up against a number of hurdles. Your performance shouldn’t be one of them. Together, let’s lower the barrier to entry.

Scott Hertzog Intro

Scott Hertzog here. It is awesome to be a part of this Podcaster News community, an endeavor to bring you the latest news, equipment reviews, and ideas coming out of the podcasting industry.  I posted my very first podcast in August of 2008, though my audio engineering and producing roots go back to 1993.

Over the years, I have helmed eight podcasts.  Currently. I produce, host, and engineer the award winning SciFi Diner Podcast, the Dune Saga Podcast, and the Inside the Studio of the Podcaster show.

The Scifi Diner Podcast, which I co-host along with Miles P. McLoughlin and M. Sieiro Garcia from M Just M.com, provides a menu of genre news, trivia, listener’s thoughts and conversations, and interviews from the people who make Science Fiction happen (celebrities like Amanda Tapping, Edward James Olmos, LaVar Burton and New York Times best selling authors such as Scott Sigler, Douglas Lain, and Alan Dean Foster). We also rewind and revisit classics like Blade Runner and Wrath of Khan as well as review recent releases like Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel, and Ender’s Game.

The Dune Saga Podcast, which I co-host along with David Moulton from The Lancast and Jim Arrowood from Jim’s SciFi Blog, takes a chronological journey through all the Dune novels, starting with the Legends of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, working our way through Frank Herbert’s original Dune series, and moving our way beyond.

At Inside the Studio of the Podcaster, the only show I run solo, I examine the equipment, the software, the apps, the plugins that make podcasts happen. I interview other podcasters who tell me what their studio can’t live without. We look at the good, the bad, and ugly, and give our recommendations.

I look forward to continuing to learn and grow in my podcasting journey.  It is my hope that my experience and knowledge of podcasting will help you grow as well.

Shawn Thorpe Intro

My name is Shawn Thorpe and I’m excited to be on board as a contributor here at Podcaster News! I posted my first podcast in January/2005 and have been active in and around podcasting ever since.

Over the last few years, I’ve focused a lot of my time on doing audio editing for others. But this year I’m planning on getting back behind the mic and launching some new shows of my own.

I’m looking forward to advancing my journey in podcasting and sharing new and interesting things with the audience of this site. Podcaster News, let’s do this!
