The Ranker provide insight into the Top 100 Podcasts as well as the Top Networks in New Zealand from 1 November through 30 November 2022, as measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics measurement service.

The Top 100 Podcast Ranker and Top Network Ranker are ranked by monthly listeners, in accordance with the latest IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines.

For this reporting period, the top three podcast included The Mike Hocking Breakfast (NZME/iHeartRadio/ARN) climbing to #1, Casefile True Crime (AudioBoom) at #2, and Fletch, Vaughn & Hayley on ZM (NZME/iHeartRadio/ARN) at #3.

New podcasts debuting on the ranker this month include Jay-Jay & Flinny – More FM (rova (MediaWorks)), Lost in Panama (Kast Media), Out the Gayte (Brodie Kane Media), and Straight Up with Niva and Beatrice (NZME/iHeartRadio/ARN).

The month of November had 71.6M downloads.

The Top Podcast Ranker and Top 150 (Australian-Made) Ranker are ranked by monthly listeners, in accordance with the latest IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines.

Yet again, the top three publishers were ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia at #1 LiSTNR (SCA) at #2 and Audioboom at #3.

This month, we also introduced a new publisher, an Australian women’s media company, Mamamia who is known for shows such as No Filter, CANCELLED, The Quicky, and more.

For this reporting period, the top three podcasts for both the Top Podcast Ranker and the Top 150 (Australian-Made) Ranker included Hamish & Andy (LiSTNER (SCA)) climbing to #1, Casefile True Crime (Audioboom) at #2, and Mamamia Out Loud (Mamamia) at #3.

Triton Digital Releases The November 2022 U.S. Podcast Ranker

Triton Digital, the global technology and services provider to the digital audio, podcast, and broadcasting radio industries, announced the release of its November 2022 reporting period (October 31 – November 27, 2022), U.S. Podcast Ranker, as measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics measurement service.

Yet again, Stitcher Media remained in the #1 spot on the Top Sales Networks Report for the month of November, with 54.7M Average Weekly Downloads and 15.5M Average Weekly Users. NPR came in at #2 with 34.3M Average Weekly Downloads and 6.6M Average Weekly Users, followed by Audacy Podcast Network at #3 with 31.7M Average Weekly Downloads and 8.6 Average Weekly Users.

For this reporting period, the top three podcasts based on downloads included Crime Junkie (audiochuck), climbing to #1, NPR News Now (NPR) at #2, and The Ben Shapiro Show (Cumulus Podcast Network), climbing to #3.

New shows debuting during this period for downloads included The Rachel Hollis Podcast (Stitcher Media), Men In Blazers (Wondery), The Dale Jr. Download – Dirty Mo Media (Audacy Podcast Network), and more. Triton Digital, the global technology and services leader to the digital audio, podcast, and broadcast radio industries, announced the release of the latest Canada Podcast Ranker for the November 2022 reporting period (October 31 – November 27, 2022), as measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics measurement service.

For this reporting period, the top three Canada originated French-language podcasts included Sexe Oral (TPX Podcast Network) again at #1, Radiojournal (CBC/Radio-Canada) again at #2, and Richard Martineau (QUB) again at #3.

Yet again, the top three Canada originated English-language podcasts included Front Burner (CBC/Radio-Canada) at #1, The Current (CBC/Radio-Canada) at #2, and Ideas (CBC/Radio-Canada) at #3.

The top ranked podcast overall was Dateline NBC (NBCUniversal News Group). SXM Media earned the #1 spot again on the Top Networks Report with 4.33M Average Weekly Downloads, followed by CBC/Radio-Canada with 2.38M Average Weekly Downloads, and Wondery Network with 2.26M Average Weekly Downloads.

Debuts for the top ranked podcasts include Run, Hide, Repeat (CBC/Radio-Canada), La Poche Bleue (Cogeco Media), Pod Save The World (SXM Media), and more. Podcast Listening And Online In-Car Listening Among Canadians

Podcast Listening among Canadians hits a new high for weekly and monthly habits, according to The Infinite Dial 2022 Canada from Edison Research and Triton Digital.

Forty-three percent of Canadians 18+ listen to podcasts monthly, up five percentage points from 2021, which means that Canadians now outpace Americans (38%) and Australians (40%) for monthly podcast listening.

AM/FM radio is still used by most Canadians as an audio source in-car, but has ceded some ground to digital audio sources. Seventy-percent of Canadians 18+ who have driven or ridden in a car in the last month have used AM/FM radio in-car, down from 79% in 2021. Nineteen percent of those who have driven or ridden in a car in the last month have used SiriusXM in car, up from 16% last year, and 19% have used online radio in car, from up to 17% last year. Podcast consumption in-car remained steady at 20% of those 18+. Twenty-six percent of Canadians who have driven or ridden in a car in the last month have an in-dash entertainment system.

More Canadians are listening to online audio in 2022 overall, not just in cars. Seventy-three percent of Canadians age 18+ are monthly online audio listeners, up from 71% last year, and 65% are weekly online audio listeners, up from 61% last year. Twenty-five percent of Canadians listen to AM/FM radio online monthly, up from 21% in 2021.

Smart speaker ownership reaches 30% of the Canadian 18+ population, up from 27% in the 2021 study. Those who already own smart speakers are continuing to acquire multiple devices. Twenty-four percent of smart speaker owners own three or more of the devices, up from 16% in 2021, and smart-speaker owners in general own an average of two of the devices.

“Podcast listening has seen some significant growth in Canada this year,” noted Nicole Beniamini, VP at Edison Research. “It seems the new podcast listeners Canada gained during the pandemic not only stayed with the medium, but have become consistent and more frequent listeners.”

Canadians are back in their cars after a tremendous drop during the pandemic. In 2021, 77% of Canadians reported driving or riding in a car in the last month. This year, 84% of Canadians reported driving or riding in a car in the last month

56% of monthly podcast listeners consume podcasts they know are produced in Canada

47% of monthly podcast listeners say they typically listen to the entire podcast, and 44% say they listen to most of the podcast
